               Jim Marshall                                           

 

James D. (Jim) Marshall was recently named the Rotarian of the Year by the Vienna Rotary Club.  He has played a major part in the highly successful ViVa! Vienna ! Town Festival which has raiser over one half a million dollars which has been donated to a variety of charitable organizations both locally and internationally.  Mr. Marshall is the President-Elect of the Rotary Club and has served as the Chairman of the club’s International Service Projects.

 

Jim is a true Washingtonian, born and raised in the nation’s capital, son of a Baptist minister, the late Rev. Jarvis G. Marshall

 

Mr. Marshall, MCE, is a highly regarded Certified Master Credit Executive within the financial industry, with more than 40 years of managerial experience.  He retired from the Navy Federal Credit union in 2005 after a long career with the credit union. Navy Federal is headquartered in Vienna , Virginia .  Navy Federal has assets in excess of $33 billion dollars, more than 3.0 million members and 130 Member Service Centers, located worldwide.  In 1989, Jim received the credit union’s highest award, the Samuel R. Pennestri Memorial Award.  This award is given annually by the credit union to the one employee who has demonstrated the most devoted and loyal leadership and service to the credit union and its members in the prior year, in addition to having established a proven record of positive accomplishments over a number of years... 

 

Jim has accumulated multiple awards throughout his 40-year involvement in the finance industry and is the immediate past Chairman of Creditors International (CI), an association representing all segments of the financial industry in the United States and 26 foreign countries.  Additionally, Jim served for a number of years on the Board of Directors of ACA International, the parent association of Creditors International.

 

Marshall attended the University of Virginia Darden Business School in Charlottesville , Virginia and the University of Michigan Executive Management Development Business School at Ann Arbor , Michigan .

 

He believes strongly in being an active member of the financial community.  He has served as President of the Consumer Credit Association of Greater Washington DC/Baltimore Region, Inc., and is the past President of the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Management Association in Washington , DC .  He is a member of the Society of Certified Consumer Credit Professionals.  At the ACA Convention and Exposition, held in 2000, Jim received the highest honor of the Society – the Outstanding Fellow Award.  He presently holds the Society’s highest certification, that of Master Credit Executive (MCE).

 

Marshall ’s spare time is consumed with community activities.  He served on the Mt. Vernon Mental Health Association Board of Directors, appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and the Consumer Advisory Board to the President of Giant Foods.

 

Aside from serving on various community committees and boards, Marshall is a clown with the KENA Shrine Center in Fairfax , VA.   Shriners raise money to support their 22 Shrine hospitals and burn centers which provide care, free of charge, to crippled and burned children. 

 

Mr. Marshall and his family have lived in the Vienna community for more than 25 years.  He is married to Jeannie Marshall, also an employee of Navy Federal Credit Union.  His son Jay, age 21, attended Roanoke College in Salem , Virginia and his daughter Jamie, age 16, is a raising junior at James Madison High School in Vienna .

 

 Jim is an active member of the Rotary Club of Vienna, Virginia.  He is presently the Director of the club’s Literacy Program. 

 

Marshall serves as a role model for people both in and out of the financial industry.  His sincere compassion for those around him and his dedication to projects he believes in has helped him to achieve much both professionally and personally.
