Counselor and Friend– Matt Brennan
The old advice to “Go West, young man,” didn’t apply to our
own Matt Brennan. He started life in
Nebraska and lived in Texas before heading East to Roanoke VA where he graduated
in 1966 prior to attending VMI for a year.
Drafted to the Army in 1969, Matt was sent to Vietnam in 1970 where he
served with field units of the 25th Infantry Division.
His unit was one of the first to enter Cambodia during the invasion of
May, 1970. It would not surprise
Matt’s friends to learn that he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze
Star for heroism in combat.
When his stint in the Army was finished, he headed for
Arizona, and earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science in 1975.
He worked in the building business in Northern California, and we don’t
know if he was also a surfer on the side. Then
it was time to “grow” again, and he was accepted by the University of
Virginia Law School where he earned his law degree in 1987 and a Master’s
Degree in International Relations in 1988.
At that time, Matt has made his home here in Vienna, Virginia, and
established his practice of law, as well. His
practice is dedicated to “serving the needs of businesses, both large and
small, and includes general civil litigation, debtor/creditor law, intellectual
property litigation and protection, and general business law.”

With a life packed full of work and a multitude of experiences, Matt has
taken on more roles in the community to include serving on the Board of
Directors of the Vienna Regional Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to serving the Chamber in so many ways, he is active in his
church and sings with a contemporary Christian group.
Finally, he is a loyal and outstanding member of our Vienna Rotary Club,
where his contributions are greatly appreciated.
One major project headed by Matt which includes Rotary members is
“Ethics Day” for high school seniors. Thanks,
Matt, for all you do to make life rich for others.
