Richard Lukens: A CPA Makes House Calls
Imagine! A CPA making house calls in 2004! At a time when service to customers appears to be disappearing in countless businesses, Richard Lukens goes out of his way to provide service to his clients. He even volunteers to come to your house if you can’t get to his Springfield office! Now THAT’s service. Prior to 1989, Richard was working as a civilian with the U.S. Army audit agency. Then, one day, a memo reached his desk, calling for volunteers to go to Europe, Hawaii, or Korea for four years. Thinking he would prefer to go to Europe or Hawaii, he still marked a “yes” on Korea, as a backup. All the other volunteers marked “no” for Korea, so guess who packed his bags for Korea. The trip was well worth it for Richard because it was there that he met his wife, a lady who knew less than ten words of English. All of which just proves that falling in love doesn’t depend on speaking the same language! Since returning to the U.S., Richard has established his own accounting business, and his wife has completed her college degree in accounting. She is currently a CPA for the Department of Commerce. Can you just imagine dinner conversations between two CPA’s? Richard remarked that our club is the 4th Rotary Club in which he has been a member. He says, with absolute confidence, that our Vienna Club is the BEST! He likes the energy and enthusiasm generated by our members, and he appreciates the opportunity to meet members of other professions in the business community. The motto for his company is “Planning for Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond,” and he works hard to help people be better organized and prepared in their financial and business ventures for better tax outcomes at the end of the year.
